Death

Mrs. Bertha Starnes Furr 93, of Newell, died Sunday, November 30, 1997, at Concord Nursing Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 2, 1997, at McEwen Funeral Service, Derita Chapel, with Rev. Joe Johnson, pastor of Forest View Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Newell Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Furr was born September 20, 1904 in Mecklenburg County. She was a member of Newell Baptist Church and a homemaker. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Willene Morrisette and husband, Hubert, of Bracey, VA, and Mrs. Maxine Edmonds and husband, Paul, of Newell; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Boyte of Newell; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at McEwen Funeral Service, Derita Chapel. Memorials may be made to Forest View Baptist Church, 3525 Old Airport Rd., Concord, NC 28025.
