Death
Dessie Love Furr, 99, of Stanfield passed away at Britthaven of the Piedmont, Albemarle on March 22, 2010. Dessie was born January 27, 1911, in Stanly County, to Elem Crosen and Fannie Osborne Love, who preceded her in death. Her husband of 70 years, Roy Lee Furr, also preceded her in death. She was a member of Loves Chapel United Methodist Church in Stanfield. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. Her funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Patrick Womack. Interment will be at Love's Chapel United Methodist Church, Stanfield. Survivors include son, R. J. Furr and wife, Kitty Sue, of Locust; daughter, Doris B. Renfro of Stanfield; brother, Marvin Love of Stanfield; sisters, Ethel Mills and Mamie Trull of Stanfield; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
