Death

OAKBORO - Martha Rosebelle Burris Furr, 98, of 16166 Big Lick Road, died Monday, May 19, 2008, at Britthaven of Piedmont Albemarle. The funeral service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church, Stanfield. The Rev. Jon Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Mrs. Furr was born Aug. 27, 1909, in Stanly County, the daughter of the late Albert Pressley Burris and the late Mary Jane Barbee Burris. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Stanfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband Louis Houston Furr; five brothers; and five sisters. Survivors include her sons, John J. Furr and wife, Lettie, of Concord and Billy Gerald Furr and wife, Glenda, of Mint Hill; daughter, Willene (Furr) Simpson and husband, Bill, of Oakboro; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
