CONCORD Mrs. Julia Gretchen Furr Sifford, 73, of Merle Rd., Concord, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at CMC- Northeast. Funeral services will be were held Saturday, July 7, at Gordon Funeral Home. The family received friends prior the funeral service. A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Sunday, July 8, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery. Mrs. Sifford was born Aug. 25, 1938 in Chatham County, daughter of the late Herman W. Furr and Irene Campbell Furr. She was a graduate of Mooresville High School. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and also attended Bethel (Bear) Creek United Church of Christ. She enjoyed crafts, passing time with friends and genealogy. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter L. "Hap" Sifford, who died July 24, 2004. She is survived by a son, William Sifford; daughters, Lisa Edwards and husband, Phillip and Cathy Styles and husband, Steve, all of Concord; brother, Alan W. Furr and wife, Diane, of China Grove; sister, Margaret Ann Furr Crowley and husband, Charles, of Huntersville; one step-grandson, Bradley Edwards; and her pet cat, ZOEY.
