A Vass man is facing sexual assault charges after he was arrested by the Moore County Sheriff's Office, said Moore County Sheriff Neil Godfrey. Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested Ronnie Lynn Furr, 60, of 1055 Furr Road, Vass, N.C. Furr was charged with one count of second degree rape, one count of felony Incest and one count of misdemeanor sexual battery. Furr was confined in the Moore County Detention Center under a $500,000.00 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for May 20, 2013 in Moore County District Court in Carthage. The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Moore County Sheriff's Office and the Adult Protective Services Investigators. The investigation was launched at the request of the Moore County Department of Social Services. Sheriff’s Office Investigators also served a warrant on Ronnie Furr for one count of misdemeanor bastardy. This warrant was taken out on him by the Moore County Child Support Agency in March of 1990. He received and additional $5,000.00 secured bond on this charge.

Ronnie Lynn Furr, age 63, of Vass, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, surrounded by his family. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vass with Pastor Bill Vaughn officiating. The family will receive friends at his father’s home in Vass. Ronnie was born in Pinehurst, North Carolina on December 24, 1952 to Joseph Melvin Furr and Celia Mae Hyatt Furr. He was a loving husband, son, brother and friend and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Furr; father, Joseph Melvin Furr (Linda) of Vass; children, Allen Furr of Arizona and Jessie Furr Wilkerson of Virginia; sisters, Guinn Leitao of Supply, NC; Darlene Stewart of Vass, Sharon Kelly of Delco, NC; step-sister, Mylinda Brewster (Brian); step-brother, Eugene Ray Brewster (Janet).
