Death

CONCORD - Mr. Charles "Buddy" Richard Furr, 72, passed away Thursday Jan. 3, 2011 [sic, February 3] at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Merrill Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Mr. Furr was born Dec. 23, 1938 in Cabarrus County, son of the late George and Amanda Hawkins Furr. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Bobby Furr and G.W. Furr, Jr. Buddy retired from Kerr Industries and later from Technicon. He was a member of Ann Street United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and building bird houses. Survivors include his wife, Joanne Mullis Furr; sons, Rick Furr of Concord and Ty Furr of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Christian Furr, Jessica Furr and Alyssa Brawley; great-grandchild, Aubrey Brawley; sisters, Jeanette Butler of Norfolk, VA, Ruby Linker, Judy Gray and Wanda Lewis, all of Concord; brothers, Gary Furr and Ray Furr of Concord and Robert Furr of Harrisburg. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to Ann Street United Methodist Church, 335 Ann Street NW, Concord, NC 28025. Wilkinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the Furr family.
