Death

George Washington Furr, Jr., age 64, of Concord, N.C., died Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital Main-Charlotte in Charlotte, N.C. Furr, Jr. was retired from Century Contractors, Matthews. The family will meet at the home. A special thanks to Vicki Klutz, Keith and Melissa Woelffer, Doug Armstrong and all of the Crew of Century Contractors. Born May 25, 1943 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late George W. Furr, Sr. and the late Amanda Elizabeth Hawkins Furr. He was also preceeded in death by a brother, Bobby Furr. He is survived by his wife Mary Anne Dunn Furr of the home. Sister-Ruby Linker and husband Harry Lee of Concord, N.C. Sister-Jeanette of Norfolk, Va. Brother-Ray Furr and wife Marla of Concord, N.C. Brother-Buddy Furr and wife Joanne of Concord, N.C. Brother-Robert Furr and wife Judy of Harrisburg, N.C. Brother-Gary Furr and wife Carlina of Concord, N.C. Brother-Jeff Furr of Georgia Thirteen grandchildren - Brandon, Cameron, Kristin, Joy Michelle, Amanda, Woody, Christina, Jonathan, Taylor, Jeff, Ken , T.J. and Stephanie Two great-grandchildren - Tristen and Taylor Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home - Concord, PO Box 367, Concord, N.C., where the family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, January 18, 2008. Funeral service will be at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel - Concord at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2008 , Rev. Everette Cox officiating. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis NC.
