Death
Mary Jane Furr, 58, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at an area hospital. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Lucas Keller Funeral Home, 137 E. Hill St. The Rev. Ryan Fontenot, pastor of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment: 1 p.m. Saturday in Wayland Cemetery, Wayland. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Keller Funeral Home. Memorials: Friends who desire are respectfully invited to honor Mary Jane's memory with gifts in her name to Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 860 Keller-Smithfield Road, Keller, Texas 76248. Mary Jane Campbell Furr was born April 10, 1952, in Brownsville to Philip W. and Katie Lee Holmes Campbell. Mary Jane and Daniel Curtis Furr were married Aug. 11, 1979, in Kingsville. Mary Jane graduated from King High School in Kingsville and later from Tarleton State University majoring in biology and chemistry and then from Southern Methodist University with a major in hazardous waste management. Her employment experience included Sun Oil Refinery in Corpus Christi, Collins and Aikman in North Carolina, Garrett Asbestos Control in Dallas, Mobil Oil Research Laboratory in Farmers Branch, Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth and Cimarex Drilling in Las Colinas. She will be remembered as a great lady, highly motivated, and with a deep love for the Lord and her church. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her father, Philip W. Campbell, in 1985. Survivors: Husband of 31 years, Curtis; mother, Katie Lee Campbell; brothers, Gene Campbell and wife, Betty, and Robert Campbell and wife, Patricia; and several close cousins and extended family.Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Fort Worth, Texas, October 21, 2010
