Death
CORAPEAKE--- Alice James Savage Furr, a retired teacher and native of Gates County, died April 15, 2001 in Obici Hospital. Furr was the daughter of the late Carlton and Una Kittrell Savage and the widow of Hal LeRoy Furr. Mrs. Furr attended Wake Forest and East Carolina and held graduate degrees in education. She taught in North Carolina Public Schools and retired from teaching in the Suffolk Public Schools. She was a lifelong member of Parker's United Methodist Church and member of the Christian Woman's Club. funeral service was conducted April 19, 2001 in Parker's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Terry Williams with burial in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Parker's United Methodist Church, Parker's Church road, Corapeake, NC 27926. Survivors include a niece, Alice Vivian Savage of Weldon.Endnotes
