JAMIE FURR (February 15, 1982 - October 5, 2012) Mr. Furr, 30, of Neshoba County, died Friday, October 5, 2012. He was a graduate of Neshoba Central High School, had attended East Central Community College and the Golden Triangle Branch of East Mississippi Community College. He had worked as an electrician in construction at the Kemper County Coal Plant. Mr. Furr was Baptist by faith. Survivors include his mother, Debra Daniels Fox of Philadelphia; father, Jimmy Furr of Jackson; son, Ryder Keith Furr, of Philadelphia; brother, Josh Furr, of Philadelphia; paternal grandparents, James N. and Bobbie Furr, Jr., of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, G. D. and Bobbie Daniels.

One-vehicle accident claims father

A Union man was fatally injured in a one-vehicle accident Friday night while his young son, a passenger, was airlifted to the University Medical Center in Jackson and later released. Jamie N. Furr, 30, of Union, died Friday at 9:19 p.m. after his eastbound 2004 Chevrolet truck left Mississippi 492, Mississippi Highway Patrol Information Officer Andy West said. "He was traveling east about seven miles from Union when they ran off the road and overturned," West said. "The cause of the accident is still under investigation." Furr was pronounced dead at the scene. The child, 22-month-old Ryder Furr, was taken to Anderson Hospital in Meridian and later airlifted to Jackson, West said. He was released on Monday. Friends described Furr as a great father. Barbara Parker, a friend of Furr's currently living in Texas, said the loss of Furr was "like losing a brother." "He was a great dad and a wonderful friend that would give you the shirt off his back," she said. Parker remembered meeting Furr when her family moved to Philadelphia when she was in the sixth grade. "He made me feel wonderful and was very helpful," she said. Despite the sadness, Parker said she was amazed to have "a new angel" watching out for others. Services for Furr were Monday at 1 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel. Burial followed in Coy Methodist Cemetery. Furr was a graduate of Neshoba Central High School.
