Death
OAKBORO — Ralph L. Furr, 81, of North Main Street, died Monday at the NC Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem after being in declining health for some time. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakboro United Methodist Church by the Rev. Phillip Park. Burial will be in Oakboro Cemetery. The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle tonight from 7 to 9. Born Nov. 10, 1900, in Stanly County, he was a son of the late Charles Croson and Maude Hartsell Furr. He was a member of Oakboro United Methodist Church and was a retired Exxon Oil Distributor with Furr Oil Company in Albemarle. Survivors include his wife, Cropsey Teeter Furr, two daughters, Mrs. J. C. (Elizabeth) Whitaker of Burlington and Mrs. W. C. (Kathryn) Palmer of Shelby, a brother, Reece Furr of Norwood. Five sisters, Mrs. Paul (Cornell) Rogers and Mrs. Fronia Laidlaw, both of Oakboro, Mrs. Brandon (Ruth) Mullis and Mrs. Ned (Hazel) Cooper, both of Albemarle, and Mrs. Nelma Ammons of Charlotte, three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.Endnotes
