Death
RICHBURG - Mr. Sam Baxter Furr, 63, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at his residence. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Barron Funeral Home, with the Revs. Jimmy Jordan, John Porter and Wayne Horne officiating. The interment will be at Mt. Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Barron Funeral Home. Born July 10, 1950, in Chester County, S.C., Mr. Furr was a son of the late Baxter Eugene Furr and Geneva Perry Furr. He attended the schools of Chester County and York Technical College. He was retired from Springs Industries with the maintenance department. Sam loved his old cars and motorcycle and was a member of the Shadetree Street Rodders. His greatest passion was his family and his friends. He was of the Methodist faith. He was survived by his wife of 40 years Roxanne Horne Furr; two sons, Sam B. "Sammy" Furr Jr. and Alan "Buddy" Leonard, both of Richburg; two daughters, Kimberly F. Johnson and her husband, Steven and Kelly F. Pressley and her husband, Britt, all of Richburg; nine grandchildren, Mikayla Sullivan, Alexis Johnson, Colby Johnson, Abby Furr, Aiden Pressley, Katie Millwood, Hailey Lovell and Michael and Bryson Leonard; his niece whom he loved as a granddaughter, Codi Horne; four sisters, Betty McFalls of Fort Lawn, S.C. and her fiance , Ken, Darlene Tessener and her husband, Dewey of Fayetteville, N.C., Robin Rogers and her husband, Gene of Richburg and Phil Millwood and her husband, Clay of Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Memorials may be made to Mt. Prospect United Methodist Church, 2543 Mt.
