Death

Mildred Stacy of Clarksdale, Miss., formerly of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, in Clarksdale. A resident of Oak Ridge from 1944 to 1994, she worked for many years at Kimball's Jewelers in downtown Oak Ridge and was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Her family said she always considered Oak Ridge and East Tennessee her home and she was especially interested in her family, her neighbors in the Woodland community and her friends and associates at work, social groups and church activities. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Surholt and her husband, August, of Clarksdale; a son, Bob Stacy and his wife, Patsy, of Clinton; two grandchildren, Debbie Maxey and Brenda Mitchell and their families; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, DeWitt and Addie Lillian Jones Furr; husband, Robert Grey Stacy; and two sisters, Louise Moore and LaVerne Stoddard. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, in the chapel of Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests memorials be in the form of donations to Trinity United Methodist Church, 320 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
