KANNAPOLIS — The funeral for Brevard Alan Furr will be at 2 pm Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev Maurice Staley Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 8, and the rest of the time at the home on Cottage Road. Memorials may be made to Center Grove Lutheran Church, 1601 S Cannon Blvd, or Royal Oaks United Methodist Church, in care of the Nutrition Site, 1020 Kansas St, both Kannapolis, N.C. Born April 4, 1928, in Cabarrus County, Furr was a son of the late Brevard A and Meta Sechler Furr. A retired employee of the US Postal Service in Kannapolis, he was a member of Center Grove Lutheran Church. He attended Pfeiffer College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a US Navy veteran of World War I. He was a lifetime resident of the area. Survivors include his wife, Agnes Dunlap Furr, two daughters, Frances Furr Kelly of Durham and Debbie Furr of Norwood, a son, John Cauble of Norwood, two brothers, Robert W Furr of Kannapolis and James K Furr of Concord, a sister, Mrs Glenn (Nell) Safrit of Concord, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
