Death

Ernestine Furr Young, 85, of McComb died December 19, 2010, at Wisteria Gardens in Pearl. She was born in Stephenson, MS on December 28, 1924 to the late Earnest and Alice Scarborough Furr. Mrs. Young was retired from Deposit Guaranty Bank, formerly Mechanics Bank, in 1983. She was a member of North McComb Baptist Church and Elizabeth Brent Sunday School Class. She was also a member of her bank retiree's club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 44 years, Charles F. Young, a daughter, Evelyn Charlene Young, her sister, Agnes Lee Sterling and a brother, Chilton N. Furr. Survivors are her son and daughter in law, Dr. Charles F. "Smokey" Young and Sharon of Tupelo, MS; daughter and son in law, Virginia "Ginny" Young Parker and Glenn of Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Blake Young and wife Marleigh, Elise Young, Jake Parker, Ben Parker, and great-granddaughter Olivia Parker. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 4 till 7 PM. Services will be at 11 AM Thursday from Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 10:30 till service time. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Wisteria Gardens for their kindness that was shown to her during her stay. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to North McComb Baptist Church.
