Death

CONCORD - Faye Marie Furr Barrier, 84, of 4826 Barrier Store Road, died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at her home. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Friendship United Methodist Church, Concord. The Rev. Bill Cranfield will officiate. Burial will be at the church cemetery in Mount Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church fellowship hall. Born July 11, 1919, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Laura Alice Smith Furr and Samuel Jefferson Furr. Mrs. Barrier assister her late husband, Homer M. Barrier in operating a community store, Barrier Store for 40 years. Mrs. Barrier was an active and life-long member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Church family and friends were a integral part of her life. She was an avid gardener and loved all kinds of needlework. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer M. Barrier. Survivors include a son, Gary W. Barrier and wife Libby of Mount Pleasant; a granddaughter, Amy E. Barrier of Arlington, Va.; a grandson, Jessie F. Barrier and wife Jill of Concord; a great-grandson, Austin Barrier of Concord; and a sister, Margie Widenhouse of Concord. Memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, 4695 Mount Pleasant Road South, Concord, NC 28025. Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord is in charge of arrangements.
