Death

JoAnn Turner Kerr, age 88, of Mt. Ulla passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Novant Rowan Health Medical Center. Born on Sept. 9, 1933 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late John Parker Turner and Gladys Furr Turner. She was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Ulla High School, where she played basketball. She was a lifelong member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Women of the Church. Following her graduation she got married and began raising her family. She worked at various jobs during that time, but raising her children and keeping her home was more important. Later in her life she worked for Patterson Farm Market and Tours. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Perry Kerr Sr. and her sister, Barbara T. Griffin. Those with cherished memories are her daughter, Millicent K. Hoffner (Jimmy); son, Perry “Joe” Kerr Jr. (Deborah); brother, Tom Turner (Juanita). Her grandchildren are Kari Linderman (Jon), Travis Kerr (Katrina), Brandon Hoffner (Katie) and Amber Caudill (Josh). Great-grandchildren are Aubrey and Ty Lindeman, Camden, Ellie, Perry and Lanie Kerr, Kaya and Cade Caudill and Parker Hoffner. Arrangements: Visitation will be on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Thyatira Presbyterian Church from 10 until 11 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. also at Thyatira Presbyterian Church with Rev.
