Death

Mrs. Patti Untz McGuire passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at her home. A memorial service will be held on Thursday July 20th at 6:30 pm at Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church officiated by Joshua Case. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 pm Thursday in the sanctuary. Patti was born on June 13, 1956, at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, to the late G. Kenneth Untz and Dorothy Furr Untz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald P. McGuire. She attended Odell Elementary and graduated from Northwest Cabarrus High School, Class of 1974. She was a homemaker and a mother extraordinaire. Patti was an office secretary, PTO presidents at Winecoff and Northwest, coached and organized youth athletic leagues, and loved to cook for her family and friends. The Untz family have been lifelong members of the Poplar Tent community and are known as friends to all. She attended Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church in her youth. Patti is survived by her sister, Susan Untz Tadlock (Greg) of Harrisburg; her children, Amanda Strickland (Marty) of Mt. Pleasant, Trey Fisher of Concord, Emily Fisher of Concord; grandchildren Brycen Fisher, Alexa Strickland, Tyler Fisher, Arabella Fisher; great grandchild, Braelynn Bowen; and her canine companion "Bubba".
