Gary Donald Furr, 54, 1281 Old Epps Bridge Road, Lot 113, Athens, Ga., died at 4:41 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at his home.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, with Evangelist Amanda Wilson and The Rev. Sean Lynch officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury. Military honors will be conducted by NC National Guard Honor Guard.Born Sept. 14, 1954, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Paul Green and Vernie Barringer Furr. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he worked in constructed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teaoka (Furr) Freeze. He is survived by a daughter, Kim (Furr) Register and husband Jimmy of Albemarle; a son, Michael Furr and wife Sheila of Albemarle; two brothers, Billy Joe Furr of Statham, Ga. and Ronnie Furr and wife Beverly of Albemarle; son-in-law, Robbie Freeze of New London; girlfriend, Virginia Horsley of Athens, Ga.; and six grandchildren.
