Marriage
Dan Furr of Lonoke and Miss Carrie Brietz of Hamilton stole a march on their friends and were quietly married in Little Rock July 3rd. They did not reveal the secret to their friends and relatives, however, until a few days ago. The groom is one of Lonoke's most popular young men and holds an important position with the Lesser-Goldman Cotton Co., of Little Rock. The bride is the daughter of Dr. S. J. Brietz of Hamilton and is highly popular in that community. She also has a large circle of friends in Carlisle. Death
Daniel O'Neal Furr, 91, of 2301 NW 43, died Sunday at his home following a short illness. Services are scheduled for 10 am, Tuesday at Crown Heights United Methodist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery directed by Guardian Midtown Funeral Home. Furr was born in Lonoke, Ark., a community named and settled by his grandfather. He retired in 1973 as regional sales director of the J. Hofert Co., a post he had held for 28 years. He received the firm's national award for salesmanship. Formerly he had been a salesman for Standard Oil Co. He was a member of the Northwest Optimist Club, the Order of the Elks and the Crown Heights United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the Navy. Survivors include his wife, Ila; a son, Harry, Dallas; a daughter, Mrs. Carl W. Smith Jr., Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
