Death

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock for Mr. M. C. “Mac” Furr, of Route 2, Wesson, prominent farmer and community leader of the Little Bahalia community. Mr. Furr died at home in his sleep some time Saturday night or early Sunday morning. The exact time of his death was not determined. The 61 year old man had suffered no known illness immediately prior to his death. Mr. Furr was a very successful crop and dairy farmer, and was highly respected by his friends and neighbors. He served an important role recently in the planning for and construction of a new building for the Little Bahalia Baptist Church, of which he had been a member since early manhood. He had recently received praise from agricultural leaders for his success in farming activities. He was a member of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau and of the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Furr is survived by his wife, Mrs. Valley May Morgan Furr; four daughters, Mrs. Esta Lee Farmer, Stronghope Community; Mrs. Maxine Kelly, Meridian; Muriel, Minnesota; Mrs. J. O. White, Wesson; three sons, Hugh and Hilton, of Wesson, and Percy, of Belzoni, Miss, and six grandchildren. The Rev. J. A. Barnhill of Jackson, pastor of the Little Bahalia Baptist Church was the officiant at the final rites. He was assisted by Rev. Douglas, of Sontag, and Rev. Green, of Jackson. Interment was in the Little Bahalia Cemetery.
