Death

Nellie Brinson Efird Furr, 83 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast in Concord. Nellie was born January 1, 1933 in Stanly County to the late Claude Flave Efird and the late Maggie Josephine Hartsell Efird. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Silas Monroe Furr, who passed away in 1998; son, Silas Furr; siblings, Bennie Efird, Florence Burris, Ruby Hinson, Sara Rand, and Evai Rown. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, August 12, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Larry Pittman, will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church, 24517 Ridgecrest Rd., Stanfield. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be gathering at her home. She is survived by her sons, Roy Furr and wife Loyce of Albemarle, Cuffie Furr and wife Vickie of Oakboro; daughter, Jetana Furr of Albemarle; sister, Autie Furr of Albemarle; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Nellie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She worked at Allison Manufacturing Company, and retired after many years of service. Nellie was a faithful member of Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her flowers, doing puzzles, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
