Marriage
Miss Elizabeth Anne Lee became the bride of Cyril Long Furr at Park Road Baptist Church Saturday. The Rev, Charles O. Milford officiated at 4 p.m. A reception followed at the bride's home, 833 Montford Dr. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Lee of Faison was given in marriage by her father. She wore a street-length gown of chantilly lace over taffeta. Her shoulder-length veil was attached to a lace and pearl pillbox. She carried gardenias and carnations with babies’-breath. The bridegroom had his brother, Larry E. Furr of Charlotte, as best man. Another brother, Robert Furr of Newton, and the bride's brother, Robert A. Lee of Faison, ushered. Mrs. Mark Rowe, matron of honor and Miss Myra Fields, bridesmaid, wore green lace and satin and carried white daisies. Mrs. Furr is a graduate of Dunn High School. She attended Atlantic Christian College and was employed at Allied Security Insurance Co. The son of Mr. and Mrs,William R. Furr of Newton graduated from Newton-Conover High School and Lenoir Rhyne College, where he belonged to Kappa Sigma. Death
Elizabeth Anne Lee Furr, 86, of Conover, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at her residence. She was born November 11, 1939 in Harnett County to the late John Lee and Ethel Blackman Lee. Anne was of the Baptist faith and retired from Catawba Valley Community College where she worked in Student Services and Financial Aid for over 25 years. She was an avid cross stitcher and loved to watch ACC basketball, especially the UNC Tar Heels. Anne enjoyed staying active and played tennis for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Long Furr; brothers, Robert Lee and Ray Brook Lee; sister, Eunice Lane Fields; and brother-in-law, Willie Fields. A graveside service to celebrate Anne's life will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Eastview Cemetery in Newton. Rev. Fred Thompson will officiate. The Furr family is in the care of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton, 828-465-2111
