Individual Details
John FURR
(15 Sep 1786 - 12 Dec 1837)
Spent most of his life on a farm in No. 2 Township, Cabarrus County. He owned a number of slaves. He married Sarah (Sally) Boger, the daughter of Daniel Boger, who owned and operated Boger's Mill, later known as Bost's Mill. His home was restored by a descendant and named by that descendant "FURRLEE." (The ca. 1820 Furr-Lee House is a two-story, single-pile house with side-gable roof. The only known alteration is the addition of a pedimented entry stoop. It also has a four-light transom.)
The church where John and his wife are buried is some 7-8 miles from Concord, NC and some 15 miles east of Davidson, NC. There is a family tradition that he was poisoned by a servant. Family Bible reportedly destroyed in a fire when son's, James Burton, home burned.
On 2 January 1832, John Furr sold to Allison Furr 120 acres in Cabarrus County for $600 (Deed Book 11, page 414, LDS Film #463, 597).
On 24 January 1833, John Furr and his wife and John Eagle and his wife sold to John H. Bost the old Daniel Boger place in Cabarrus County for $400 (Deed Book 11, page 506, LDS Film #463,597).
On 10 July 1834, John Furr sold to Allison Furr 140 acres in Cabarrus County for $600 (Deed Book 14, page 81, LDS Film #463, 598).
On 28 December 1835, John Furr sold the land previously belonging to his son, Henry N. Furr, to Archibald Blackwater for $400 (Deed Book 12, page 536, LDS Film #463, 598).
