Death
Laura Furr Bounds of Mobile, Alabama went home to be with her Lord at the age of 88 on August 30, 2018. Laura was born on September 24, 1929, in Fulton, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Marion F. Furr and the late Mae Scott Furr. Laura graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, Alabama. She received her undergraduate degree and her Masters degree from the University of Alabama. She subsequently enjoyed a long career teaching the hearing impaired in the Mobile County school system. Laura was very intelligent and had a warm, loving heart and a strong, courageous spirit. She loved people and believed deeply in helping others. She also possessed a deep faith and was a longtime, active member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church. She loved nature, especially bird watching, and traveled extensively to pursue bird watching. She was a member of the Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuary and was a member of the Alabama Ornithological Society. She loved to read and play bridge with her friends. She also loved gardening. She was very loyal and devoted to her family and friends. Laura is survived by a nephew, a great niece and great nephew, numerous cousins and other family members and friends. Laura is preceded in death by her two sons, Donald Richard Bounds, Jr. and Russell Hampton Bounds, by her parents, and by her sister, Constance Furr Plummer. There will be a visitation at 10:00 a.m. in the Dill Parlor and the funeral service for Laura will be at 11:00 a.m in Adkins Chapel on Wednesday, September 5th at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church in Mobile, Alabama. The service will be officiated by Dr. Robbins Sims, Dr. Steve Dill and Gorman Houston, III.
