Notes
Death
Mrs. J. W. Furr, 28 years old, formerly of Houston, wife of a farmer living in the Village Creek community, was drowned yesterday while bathing. The body will be brought to Houston for burial. The accident occurred about four miles below the town of Fletcher. In the party were her husband and several friends. Mrs. Furr and two other women were together and the men were some distance from them. Mrs. Furr stepped into quicksand and before aid could reach her she had disappeared beneath the water. Mr. Furr and the other men in the party worked desperately to recover her body and found it shortly after she had disappeared. However, efforts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful. Mr. and Mrs. Furr had lived at Village Creek three years. They had no children. The Houston Chronicle, Houston, Texas, July 3, 1916
