Death
Word has been received of the death of Michael Alfred Iorio, 93, formerly of Sun City, Calif, and Greencastle, who died at 9:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, in Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg. Born Dec 30, 1906, in Wilmerding, Allegheny County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Christine Cocco Iorio. He was a graduate of New Castle High School and New Castle Business College. While living in New Castle, he was a farmer and milkman. He then was a milkman in Torrance, Calif. Mr. Iorio enjoyed fishing, doing crossword puzzles, Italian history, reading and watching professional wrestling. Phyllis Podavano Iorio, his first wife, died in July 1968 (1969). Geraldine F. Kirtsinger Iorio, his second wife, died on Nov. 18, 1997. Three brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death. Surviving are three daughters, Christine Mosher of Torrance; Norma Whittaker of Menifee, Calif; and Loretta Millon of Greencastle; two sons, Michael of Cherry Valley, Calif, and Charles of Leetsdale; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Patrick of New Castle; a sister, Sue Gallace of Cedar City, Ga.; nieces; and nephews. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Greencastle Baptist Church, 2377 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle. Pastor David Rasmussen will officiate. Arrangements are by Harold M.
