Death
Gerald W. Rhodes Sr., 75, of 3130 Jayne Ave., a retired salesman, died of heart failure Monday at his home. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Rhodes was a Perry, Ark., native. He had lived in Jackson for 59 years. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, the Metro Civitan Club and the Pearl Lodge 23 F&AM. Mr. Rhodes was a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Wahabi Shrine Temple. Mr. Rhodes was a car salesman for 33 years before retiring. He also played semi-pro baseball with the old Jackson Senators. Survivors include: wife, Mary; daughter, Nancy Rhodes Dennis of Madison; sons, Gerald W. Rhodes Jr. of Jackson and George William Rhodes of Houston, Texas; and five grandchildren.Clarion-Ledger, Jackson, Mississippi, May 29, 1990
