Death

Mr. Raymond ''Fats'' Odum III, 60, of McCorkle Road, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at University Hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Royce Godfrey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Odum, a native of Richmond County, had retired as an iron worker and was a member of Union Local 709. He was a member of Fort Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member of Fort Creek Baptist Church Brotherhood. Survivors include his wife, Roma Odum; a son, Steven Furr, Dearing; two daughters, Ramona Freeman, Thomson, and Cheryl Sturgill, Dearing; four brothers, Roy Odum, Jackson, Tenn., Charles Odum, Lincolnton, Harry Odum, Augusta, and Walter Odum, Asheville, N.C.; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Roy Odum Jr., Harry Odum, Walter Odum, Steve Odum, Charles Odum and Roy Odum. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Katie Harrison Sunday School Class. Friends may call at the residence or at Curtis Funeral Home, Thomson. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
