Death

Steven Alan Furr, Sr., 64, of Dearing, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 31, 2025, with his wife and son by his side. A lifelong resident of Dearing, Steve dedicated his life to his craft as an ironworker and welder. Outside of work, he found joy in music, especially rocking out to classic rock-Lynyrd Skynyrd being his all-time favorite. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Raymond "Fats" Odum, III. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Furr; his mother, Roma Odum; his sons, Steven (Crystal) Furr, Jr., Brandon (Amber) Furr, and Alexander Furr; and his daughters, Alice Strickland and Glenda Walden. He is also survived by his sisters, Mona (Timmy) Brown and Cheryl (James) Sturgill; grandchildren, Samuel and Trinity Furr, Brianna Smith, Amelia, Chole, and McKinley Furr, Blake and Adeline Furr, Eric, Elizabeth, and Sarah Strickland, and Austin, Kyla, and Stephine Walden; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Melissa (Eric) Hartwell, Jessica (Rooster) Williamson, James Sturgill, and Jason Brown. A Celebration of Steve's Life will be held at 3 PM on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Starling Funeral Home, with Brother Jeffery Hoffmann officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to Frances on CashApp account to assist with expenses. Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched.
