ALBEMARLE — Mr. Martin Dennis Clark, 77, of 121 Garfield Avenue, died Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at Britthaven of Piedmont. He was born in Oakboro, Stanly County, NC, January 30, 1924, son of the late Lula Smith Clark and the late John Martin Clark; husband of the late Lucille Crawford Clark. He worked for 15 years at Confederate Motors. He retired from Collins and Aikman after 20 years of service as a diesel mechanic. Mr. Clark was a US Navy WWII veteran, Seaman First Class, USS Marmara, recipient of the American Area Camp Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Camp Medal (One Star), and the Point System-World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, Rev. Clay Waters officiating. Burial with Military Rites by the Albemarle-Stanly County DAV, will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Oakboro, NC. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The family will be at the home, 121 Garfield Avenue, Albemarle. Mr. Clark is survived by sons, Stephen Clark and Tony Clark, both of Barnwell, SC; daughter, Dianne Clark Gold of Tega Cay, SC; brothers, Gaddis Clark of Oakboro, NC, C.J. Clark of Concord, NC and Guy Clark of Albemarle, NC; sisters, Estelle Barbee and Shirley Efird, both of Oakboro, NC; grandchildren, Eric Furr of Albemarle, NC, Cim Ray of Barnwell, SC and Heather Connelly of Ulmer, SC; and great grandchildren, Olivia Ray and Autumn Ray, both of Barnwell, SC.
