Death

Funeral services for Mrs. Mercedes McGee Andrus, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park. Mrs. Andrus, a resident of Opelousas, died at 4 a.m. today (Friday, April 3, 1998), in Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Survivors include: five sons, Alex Andrus III of Opelousas, Vance Andrus of Lafayette, Dr. Tim Andrus of Baton Rouge, Pat Andrus of Washington, D.C., and Hugh Andrus of Carencro; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Richards of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a brother, Richard McGee of New Mexico; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Andrus was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Alex Andrus Jr. Visiting hours will be observed from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. Sunday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
