Death
Nancy Shannon Myrick, 86, peacefully passed away on April 25, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on Feb. 5, 1938, to Augustus & Naomi Ruth (Haley) Furr in Memphis, Tennessee. Nancy moved to Mulberry from Texas 25 years ago. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and found solace in her faith. She graduated from Lone Oak High School in Paducah, and pursued her passion by becoming a registered nurse from Paducah Community College. Nancy was the director of nursing at Parkview Nursing Home and supervisor of nursing at St. Mary's Hospital in Galveston, Texas. She also dedicated her time to teaching nursing courses at UTMB in Galveston, Texas. In her free time, Nancy enjoyed art projects, quilting, ACT card trading, traveling, spending time at the beach, volunteering at her church, tending to her cacti collection, and cherishing moments with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Myrick; mother, Naomi Ruth Haley Shannon; father, Augustus Furr; son, Joe David Albritten; and her beloved Yorkshire terrier, Luciano. She is survived by her children, James (Cindy) Albritten Jr., Jaymie Albritten (Terry) Simmons; stepdaughter, Jacqualyn Myrick (Tony) Shryock, brother, William "Bill" Shannon; grandchildren, Bryan, Alyson, Wendy, Danielle, Trey, Jessica, Jay, Andrew, Jodi, Brooklyn; 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew her, may she rest in peace. Graveside services will be at noon Friday, May 3, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Gary Clark officiating.
