Burial
STAMFORD -- Thurman C. Rice, 86, died Wednesday in a Haskell nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Stamford First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Capron Cemetery in Haskell County, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home. Mr. Rice was born in Hunt County near Greenville and moved to the Stamford area in 1925. He was a farmer and was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Ann Furr of Stamford; two sons, T.C. Rice Jr. of Carrollton and Jerry Lynn Rice of Stamford; one brother, John R. Rice Jr. of Stamford; three sisters, Faye McKinstry and Lois White, both of Abilene, and Zelda Mae Crowe of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.Abilene Reporter, Abilene, Texas, December 3, 1998
