Dr. Solomon FURR
(29 May 1822 - 27 Aug 1895)
Son of Henry, was a noted medical doctor in the Stanly County area. He married the widow Jane Cox Wilhelm. They had no children. He was elected Second Lieutenant Company B, 7th North Carolina Infantry on May 16, 1861 and First Lieutenant on June 27, 1862. He was wounded at the Battle of Fredericksburg on December 13, 1862, and resigned because of ill health on January 11, 1863. He was a member of the Masonic order when he died at the age of 73.

Death
Dr. Solomon Furr, a well known citizen of No. 9, died last Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from a stroke of paralysis which he received last Friday. He told his wife he felt sleepy, when she told him to stir about. He went out to the barn, and while there was stricken. He lingered until Tuesday when he died. Dr. Furr leaves a wife and three children, two sons and one daughter, Mrs. S. C. Bost. The two sons are out west. Dr. Furr was about 75 years olds. Take hwy 73 west from Albemarle to Mt. Pleasant. At the first stop light take a left on to South Main St. A little way down the road S. Main turns into Mt. Pleasant Rd. Stay on Mt. Pleasant Rd. till you come to a four way intersection. At this intersection you will take a left on to Miami Church Rd. Go to the very end of Miami Church Rd and take a left onto Barrier-Georgeville Rd. There is no street sign here, but as you turn left the cemetery will be on your left up on a very small hill right near the road.
