Death
John David “J. D.” Yow Sr., 88, of Stanfield passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family. His funeral will be 2 PM on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Kinza Memorial Baptist Church in Stanfield with Pastor Chad Austin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at his home, 8498 Smith Road, Stanfield, NC 28163, on Friday evening, July 7, 2023 from 6 until 8 PM. Born January 7, 1935 in Stanly County, NC he was the son of the late John Hampton Yow and Dora Estelle Furr Yow. He was a retired employee of Charlotte Pipe Foundry and also Cannon Mills Co. He was a member of Kinza Memorial Baptist Church. He loved taking Country rides in his truck with Allen Jackson Gospel music blaring, fishing in the trees, telling jokes and pulling pranks. He enjoyed supervising everyone in his family and that he did very well. He always told his family “you got to stand for something or you will fall for anything”. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann Beach Yow. Survivors include children Coot Yow (Wanda) of Stanfield, Lori Ferguson (Ricky) of Stanfield, Shelley “Nookey” Osborne (Brian) of Locust, brother Charlie Yow of Stanfield, five grandchildren Ricky Ferguson Jr. of Houston, Tx, Josh Ferguson (Jessica Blankenship) of New London, JoJo Ferguson (Sara) of Stanfield, Jessica Medlin (Tyler) of Stanfield, Brandon Yow (Kathryn) of Stanfield, eight great-grandchildren Bentley Ferguson, Parker Medlin, Paisley Ferguson, Emmeline Yow, Payton Medlin, Annsley Ferguson, Neal Yow, Noah Yow and Brooks Blankenship. He was preceded in death by brother Hoyle Yow, and sisters Barbara Yow Drye, Faye Yow Little Morton, and Peggy Jean Yow Fisher.His family would like to thank Hospice of Stanly & The Uwharrie for their care of him as well as his family. Special thanks to Deanna Deere, Crystal Thomas, and Jalil Scott, you ladies ROCK! In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Stanly & The Uwharrie. His family is asking that casual attire be worn for his funeral being that he was a Casual Country Boy.
