Death
After a long illness Mrs. A. P. Collins, 83, died at the St. Francis Sanitarium, Monroe, Monday, July 15, 1946. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Old Union Church with interment in the Old Union Cemetery. Rev. H. H. McBride and Rev. Fred Flurry officiated. Acting as pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: John Jones, Homer McMurry, Lawson Miller, Bill Beard, Henry Collins, and Doug Hinton. A native of Beauregard, Mississippi, Mrs. Collins was the former Miss Jennie Dunn. She first married a Mr. Beard and after his death married Dr. A. P. Collins of Route 2, Winnfield. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield. Since last March Mrs. Collins had made her home with her son, Dr. Sotus A. Collins of Monroe. Mrs. Collins was the mother of eight children: Grady Collins of McGee, Ark.; J. W. Collins of Route 2, Winnfield; Dr. Sotus A. Collins, Monroe; Sam Collins (deceased); Mrs. Pearl Montgomery, Bellwood; Mrs. Annie Mae Hinton, Cotton Valley; Julius Beard, Stonewall; Mrs. Lizzie Miller, Winnfield. She also leaves three stepchildren, Mrs. Lee Adams, Columbia; Mrs. J. A. McMurry and Mrs. Mary Smith, Route 2, Winnfield; and one brother, Jack Dunn, Pineville.The Winn Parish Enterprise, July 18, 1946
