Notes
Death
Mrs. Ophelia A. Boone [Ophelia Amanda (Watson) McGlaun Boone] died last Thursday morning at 1 o'clock at her home in Toccopola. Her health had been failing for some time but the illness that proved fatal lasted only three weeks. The end was peaceful and quiet, the patient suffer closing her eyes and falling asleep, to awake on the other shore. At 4 o'clock that afternoon all that was mortal of this noble woman was laid away in the Toccopola grave yard by the side of her husband, Mr. W. R. Boone, [should be Mr William Sanford Boone] who had preceded her to the grave twenty-two years. Prof. Walter Furr conducted the funeral service held at the grave, which was largely attended by sympathetic neighbors and friends. Mrs. Boone was born January 22 [1843] in the State of Georgia but came to this county when almost a baby and lived the remainder of her years within seven miles of her first home. Soon after her marriage, she joined the Methodist church and lived true, faithful, consecrated Christian, and continued in the faith through life.Endnotes
