Individual Details

Elizabeth Matilda FURR

(5 Mar 1824 - 6 Sep 1920)

In 1892 Typhoid Fever took the lives of her husband, Jesse Marion Smith, her brothers; James Addison Smith & Augustus Smith as well as her son-in-law, Shelby Dorsey Saxon. All within a 2 month period from Sept 5, 1892 to Nov. 21, 1892. My Granny said she was a strong woman who dipped snuff and drove her (my Granny) to town (Brookhaven) and back with their horse and buggy many times. Since my Granny lost her father and her Granny had lost the Grandpa they were great friends.
