Christian Jacob FURR
(15 Aug 1792 - 30 Aug 1850)
See comment under Jacob Furr. Served with brother, Paul Furr, in Battle of New Orleans, 8 Jan 1815, War of 1812. Moved to Mississippi between 1815 and 1821. Settled on Little Bahala Creek on the old Jim Breaden Smith place near his brothers, Jake and Henry. When he died, his estate included 5 slaves was valued at $20,000.

Note: This Bible was burned some 30 years ago at Pierce Kelly's store in Beauregard, Mississippi. Mr. Kelly married a step-daughter of William Pendleton Furr, son of George Washington Furr. A copy of this Bible record was given by Martha Elizabeth "Aunt Mattie" Furr, daughter of William Pendleton Furr, to her nephew, Walter Lamar Furr, Beauregard, Miss. This record was copied and certified to be a true copy of the Christian Furr Bible, by Gordon M. Wells.
It is believed that Christian Furr served with his brother, Paul Furr, in the Battle of New Orleans on January 8, 1815, in the War of 1812. Soon afterwards he settled with his family in Marion County, later Lawrence County, which is now Lincoln County, Mississippi.
Two sons of Christian Furr died in the service of the Confederacy - Lott Furr, died June 15, 1862 at Gainsville Hospital, Gainsville, Alabama; Francis Marion Furr died on April 20, 1863.
