Death
Betty Louise Furr went to be with her Lord on June 11, 2022. She was born in Joplin Missouri on the 23rd of February 1940 to Blaine and Stevia Mathis. As her father was a career military man in the Army, she lived overseas in Japan and Germany as well as stateside to Vancouver Washington finally settling in Sebastopol, CA where she spent the lion’s share of her life. She attended Analy High School and was an outstanding student. She studied music at Santa Rosa Junior College and was an accomplished musician and attended the University of San Francisco. Betty enjoyed her employment with State Farm Insurance where she proudly worked for forty years, and made advancements for women as one of the first female underwriters in the field. She was involved with many extracurricular activities and was even involved in the design and construction of an award-winning Rose Parade float. She had a gift of being creative and artistic; she enjoyed several hobbies including photography, ceramics, sewing, reading, and QVC shopping. Many of her projects exist today in memorial to her many talents. Betty was married to Edwardo Alvarado on the 9th of September 1999 and they enjoyed a wonderful life which involved attending many family events as well as spoiling the grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her loving husband, Eduardo Alvarado, and her two sons from a previous marriage, Edward Prior Beal (married to Cyndy Beal) and Russell Warren Beal (married to Deborah Beal). She has five grandchildren who fondly recall the times spent at Grandma’s house, as well as four great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her family and countless friends. Above all else, Betty loved Jesus and lived a life of unshakable faith in the Lord. She spent her Sunday’s playing the piano and singing for her Church. She spent much of her time studying the Bible and her notes can be found throughout her home. She had a giving heart and exemplified God‘s love through her numerous charities. Betty Furr will be inurned at Pleasant Hill Memorial Park on June 27, 2022.Endnotes
