Death
Mrs. May R. Fairbank, 77, wife of Brig. Gen. Leigh C. Fairbank, USA (ret.) of McLean, Va., died of a heart ailment Monday at Walter Reed Hospital. Born in Lansdowne, Pa., she moved at an early age to Allentown, Pa., where she attended the local schools. Married in 1913, she traveled extensively in this country and the Far East and was active in Episcopal Church work. She had moved to the Washington area 25 years ago and was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in McLean. Gen. and Mrs. Fairbank had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last month. She leaves her husband at the home address, 1012 Melrose lane, McLean, Va., and two daughters, Mrs. Justine L. Welch and Mrs. Maryalice M. Miner of Pascagoula, Miss. She also leaves 14 grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Fort Myer Chapel. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rinaldi Funeral Home, 7400 Georgia avenue N.W. at 7 p.m. today.The Evening Star, Washington, DC, July 4, 1963
