Per Joyce Cales Britt, the Canterbury's had steel blue eyes and hot tempered. This she remembers her grandmother, Mary Agnes talking about. Mary Agnes also said that Tabitha was a very difficult person to get along with. One of her son-in-laws, actually got so mad at her, he cut her throat. He didn't kill her but she had a scar on her neck until she died. The son-in-law was John Gilbert, husband of Mary Cales, Tabitha's daughter.
