Death

Mrs. Lillian Furr (nee Porter) was born in Union County, Miss., on Dec. 28, 1887, and died at the Lucy Brinkly Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., where she had gone to be treated for appendicitis. She was too weak to stand the treatment, and sweetly passed away on April 24, 1915. Sister Furr joined the M. E. Church, South, at the age of thirteen. She loved her Church and Sunday school. She had been a faithful teacher of the Intermediate Class for over a year, and had taken much interest in her pupils. This dear wife and mother leaves a broken-hearted husband and two little boys. But, dear husband and children, why grieve? We feel sure that she is resting sweetly, for she did not fear death, and told her physician that angels were hovering around her. I was in her home Sunday evening, a few days before her death. She called her precious boys to her bedside and told them to pray, as she was wont to do every night. Her heart’s desire was to raise her dear boys up to be useful Christian men. May the dear Lord bless this kind husband and help him to raise his boys for Christ!
