Death
Mr. Howard Ray Barbee, Sr. and Mrs. Judy Lynn Beach Barbee, 74 and 70 respectively, passed away two weeks apart at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord. He passed on September 21, 2020, and she passed on September 4, 2020. A joint graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, October 5, 2020, at Salisbury National Cemetery. Pastor Randy Simmons will officiate. Military Honors will be provided for Mr. Barbee. Mr. and Mrs. Barbee were both born in Cabarrus County. Mr. Barbee was born November 1, 1945. He was a son of the late Chrone Barbee and Cora Furr Barbee. He attended Reckless Love Church in Kannapolis. Ray loved his family, including his dog Fancy. He enjoyed watching TV, including Westerns. Ray especially loved spending time with his wife, Judy, who passed away September 4, 2020. Mrs. Barbee was born January 9, 1950. She was a daughter of the late Albert "Pete" Odell Beach, Sr. and Viola "Betty" Mae Deaton Beach. She found pleasure in taking care of her family and enjoyed Facebook. She was a graduate of Concord High School Class of 1968. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Louise Easley; three brothers, James, Willard and Wade Barbee; and brother-in-law, Horace Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Freeman. Mr. and Mrs. Barbee are survived by two daughters, Karen Linker and husband Danny of Concord and Kim Pope of Gold Hill; two sons, Ray Barbee, Jr. of Kannapolis and Mark Barbee and wife Candy of China Grove; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Mr. Barbee is also survived by a special niece, Betty Marsh of Concord; and a sister, Pegge Smith. In addition, Mrs. Barbee is survived by two sisters, Jo Ann Wiley Ralph of Lakeland, FL and Brenda Bowden of Holly Springs; brother, Albert "George" Beach, Jr. of Louisiana; and brother-in-law, Ricky Freeman of Durham.Endnotes
