Notes
Death
Mrs. Elizabeth Simpson Furr, president of the Woman's Missionary Society of Galloway Memorial M. E. Church, on Wednesday morning, Aug. 13, 1919, surrounded by loved ones and ministering friends, the spirit of this good woman was released from its earthly tenement to be transplanted to its permanent home of peace and rest. She was 57 years of age. Rich in the grace of God indeed was this servant; cheerfully she obeyed the commands of her superiors, and as she journeyed through life she scattered sunshine and hope into thousands of lives that have honored God on earth and will praise Him through eternity. In the courts above very merciful and kind was her Heavenly Father at life’s close, as she had been a great sufferer. Her going away was a peaceful and gentle as a babe falling asleep on its mother’s bosom. The religion of Jesus Christ that had sustained and comforted her through all the years did not fail her when she met the last enemy. Her influence will never die, her memory will be sweet to all who came under her consecrated life. On Thursday, Aug. 14, 1919, funeral services were held in Holly Springs, Miss., conducted by her pastor, Rev. F. B. Jones, and Brother Holder, presiding elder of Holly Springs district, and laid there to rest till she shall be caught up to receive her everlasting reward. Rest, our dear co-worker, we expect to follow on and by the grace of God to see you again. The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, Tennessee, October 12, 1919
