Death

Roberta Moreton Crawford of McComb, Mississippi, formerly of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, died peacefully on November 3, 2018. She was 93. Born at the home of her grandmother in Brookhaven, Mississippi in January of 1925, Roberta was educated in the Brookhaven and McComb, Mississippi school systems. She was a graduate of McComb High School, attended Millsaps College and graduated from Louisiana State University. She was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. She was briefly employed by Exxon in Baton Rouge, then went to work in the Blood Bank of the Baton Rouge General Hospital. She retired in the 1980’s. She was an avid animal lover all her life. Predeceasing her were her parents, Will Furr Crawford and Lena Moreton Crawford Mixon, her stepfather A. J. Mixon, her brother and sister-in-law William Franklin and Anne Jordan Crawford, her uncle and aunt Dr. Robert Dulaney Moreton and Alma Williamson Moreton, and her dear friends Norma M. Bender and Sue Minnis. She is survived by her nephew, Robert Michael Crawford of Brookhaven, Mississippi and numerous cousins, as well as dear friends Evelyn Meier of California, Joanne Troth and Michael Polazola of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Jeanette Thompson and Robert Brumfield of Zachary, Louisiana. She was buried at a private, graveside service in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family expresses its’ great gratitude to each of the management and staff of Camellia Estates in McComb, as well as to the management and staff of Hospice Compassus for their kind and loving care of Roberta.
