Death

CONCORD Martin Ray Allison, 72, of Concord, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at CMC-NE in Concord after a period of declining health. His funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Whitley's Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, Jan. 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. At other times they will be at the family home. Martin was born Jan. 4, 1941, in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Hoyle Allison Sr. and Annie Lee Overcash Allison. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Hoyle Allison Jr. He was a life long area resident. Martin was a certified Tool and Die maker and worked for various companies, such as Worthington and Ingersol-Rand. He retired from Phillip Morris. He enjoyed hunting, car races and spending time with his family and granddaughters. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed. Martin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cathy Furr Allison, of the family home; his daughters, Lisa A. Cole (Todd), of Midland and Marcy Allison; his son, Todd Allison; grand-daughters, Taylor and Audrey Allison; his sister, Sarah Lomax (Brady); and brother, Frankie Allison, all of concord; and sister-in-law, Martha Ann Allison, of Columbia.
