Death

Daniel A. Strube, 80, of Wall, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015. Daniel was born February 5, 1935 and was the tenth child of A.W. and Mathilda Strube. He grew up on the Strube farm and in April 1956 married his sweetheart, Sherline Michalewicz. They began their marriage in Washington while Daniel was enlisted in the US Army. Soon after that they made their home at the original Strube place in Wall and raised their six children. Together, Sherline and Daniel taught their children the importance of a strong faith, good work ethic and a generous heart. Daniel was a dedicated and hard-working farmer who enjoyed taking care of the land and watching the cotton grow into a beautiful crop. He was especially proud to farm the land that his father once farmed. He also enjoyed raising cattle and checking his Eola ranch. In his retirement, he enjoyed helping his son, Roger, and grandson, Justin Daniel, farm and took great pride in knowing that his great-grandson, Stehl Daniel, would one day help to farm the Strube land. Daniel enjoyed many years with good friends in the 'Hunting Bunch' and loved to go fishing with his good buddies. He was also a member of the KC's, Wall Young Farmers, and Wall Volunteer Fire Dept. Frequently, you could find him having coffee at the gin and talking about farming, cotton or maybe even bragging on his grandkids. Daniel was lovingly called "PoPo" by nineteen grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Daniel is survived by his wife, Sherline; son- Roger Strube and Debbie Norris; daughters: Sherry Holubec and husband, Dennis; Denise Latzel and husband Stanley; Paula Frerich and husband John, Pattye Furr and husband James; and Kelly Matschek and husband Bruce. Grandchildren: Jessica Norton, Bailey Holubec, Koreley Whittington, Derek Latzel, Kayla Hartl, Nicole Finch, Chelsea and Justin Strube, Blake Frerich, Kortni Vanicek, Shelby Kalina, Shayna Neighbors, Danielle Dunn, Kristen Dennis, Ethan Furr, McKenzi, Mason, Brylee and Reid Matschek and 24 great grandchildren. Also, sister-in-law, Margaret Strube. Daniel is preceded in death by his parents AW and Mathilda Strube, brothers: Otto, Gilbert, A.W. and Marvin; Sisters: Olivia Schwertner, Alice Wilde, Valeria Wilde, Cordula Wilde, and Florine Gray. A rosary will be held on Tues., Sept. 29, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wed., Sept. 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derek Latzel, Blake Frerich, Justin Strube, Ethan Furr, Mason Matschek, Reid Matschek, Kollen Furr, and Cooper Latzel. Honorary pallbearers will be his hunting bunch and Lisa Edwards, Darryl, Clayton, Karl, and Doyle Weishuhn. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo.
