Death
William “Butch” Fred McIntyre, Jr., 81, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at his home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Troy Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Wilkinson. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, face masks are recommended and please practice social distancing. Born July 12, 1940, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late William Fred and Nellie Greene McIntyre, Sr. Butch came across as a hard man, but he had a heart of gold and would do anything for you. He loved Nascar racing and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Butch loved his woodworking, especially his bowls, vases, and Christmas ornaments. He was a member of Troy Presbyterian Church for 70 years, and served as a deacon and elder. He loved to travel and loved Bluegrass music. Butch wanted his grandchildren to remember him as a great grandpa, and his family always came first. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joyce Furr McIntyre of the home; daughter, Annette McIntyre of Charlotte; sons, Fred McIntyre of Virginia Beach, VA, and Ronnie Wayne McIntyre (Melissa) of Troy; brothers, Jim Frank McIntyre, and John David McIntyre, both of Troy; sisters, Judy Lynn Holder (Mark) of Ruckersville, VA, and Jan McIntyre Dills (Ron) of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service; and other times at the home, 279 Alexander Rd., Troy, NC, 27371.
